The release of Version 5 and New ASP .NET Intranet Portal
We are pleased to announce the long awaited release of
CABS Chamberlain Version 5.
Key features of this release are:
- New connection method to the database server. No longer are we restricted to the confines of the BDE (Borland Database Engine). Instead we now use an ADO connection allowing for easy configuration and control.
- Site / Time Zone handling. Allowing for global site bookings for video and conference call meetings. Booking your videoconference between London and New York could not be easier.
- Room Groups allows you to grant access to a set of rooms across different location to a user without them seeing or accessing all the rooms in those locations.
- Automatic Email reminders. You can have your booking hosts emailed hours or days before the event.
- Bookings past midnight. You can now carry that function booking on into the early hours of the morning.
- Improved Client Prospecting allowing you to quickly and easily assign contact and source of business information.
- Post Code look up. Allowing you to quickly look up that address and enter it in to your clients details.
- Improved Extras Monitor handling so that rooms can be cleared and turned around quickly
- Improved Email handling allowing for HTM email templates to be used and even SMTP sending.
Also a New module
- ASP .NET Intranet Portal, which allows you to view your meeting room through your intranet. You can also allow users to book meeting, assign extras, and assign visitors and much more.

Mark Birch, one of the support team, is about to take his driving test. Not sure if the world is quite ready for this but we thought we should warn you!
Guys & St. Thomas NHS Trust choose CABS Chamberlain for their Room Bookings operation across the trust. One of the key elements in their decision (apart from a competitive price) was the ease with which services to different locations are handled. This includes services to non-bookable spaces.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Dublin choose CABS Chamberlain for their prestigious new building at Spencer Dock. Having looked at our competitors, they decided on CABS Chamberlain because of the very flexible Intranet Portal and the flexibility it offered in applying their complex ‘local’ rules to the whole operation. This includes restricting some users to one room or to others at a Departmental Level. PWC also use CABS Chamberlain nationally in Australia and in the UK.
ETC Venues have asked us to develop an Internet Portal that gives key clients full access to a subset of available rooms at their many locations. This will include a ‘Last Minute’ pre-paid booking facility.
Wakefield Metropolitan Council choose us to develop a public facing portal for their city. They have been using CABS Chamberlain for three years and have been very impressed with the flexibility and performance of the software. They have now extended the use of the software to a wide variety of bookable entities (courses, room, tee-off times) at other sites across the city
